Basketball Recap: Donahue Catholic Find Success

Donahue Catholic won the last time they faced Immokalee, and Veronica Halisky did her part to make sure it happened again. The Donahue Catholic Shamrocks simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Immokalee Indians 64-7 thanks in part to Halisky, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Camille Kelly, who posted six points and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Donahue Catholic's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 11-3 (and 1-3 when she doesn't).

Despite the defeat, Immokalee saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abigail Salazar earned seven points.

Donahue Catholic's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Immokalee, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Donahue Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-28 victory against Golden Gate on the 22nd. Immokalee has also already played their next game, a 50-12 loss against LaBelle on the 23rd.
