Basketball Recap: Piper Martin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vandalia Christian over Union Grove Christian

Vandalia Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 42-25 to the Union Grove Christian Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-29 last Thursday.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Piper Martin, who posted 12 points. Jaida Steele was another key player, putting up seven points.

Union Grove Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madi Jeffreys, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Jeffreys a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zoey Stiltner, who scored nine points along with seven boards and three steals.

Vandalia Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Union Grove Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Vandalia Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-30 win against Oak Level Baptist Academy on the 10th. As for Union Grove Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-36 defeat against New Manna Christian on the 7th.
