Burns proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Melba Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hilanders have posted since September 6th.

Burns was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (111-105), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 29-27, 17-25, 26-24, 18-25, 15-10.

Burns' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Temple led the charge by getting 30 digs. Temple is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Burns' win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Melba, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Burns didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Molalla on the 20th. As for Melba, they will challenge Marsing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
