Baseball Recap: Chester Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Redding Christian, Chester was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Burney Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Volcanoes in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Chase Clark, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Chester: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grady Klimek, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

The win got Chester back to even at 6-6. As for Burney, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Chester will host Plumas Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Volcanoes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Burney, they have already played their next contest, an 11-4 defeat against Fall River on the 29th.
