Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Essex Hornets vs. Arlington Catholic Cougars

The Manchester Essex Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Arlington Catholic Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Manchester Essex didn't have quite enough to beat Georgetown and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, Arlington Catholic hadn't done well against St. Mary's recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Sunday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Arlington Catholic pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Manchester Essex, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Manchester Essex suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Arlington Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
