Softball Recap: Northwest Falcons vs. Laguna Acoma Hawks

Northwest extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 39 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-21 in the process. They came up short against the Laguna Acoma Hawks, falling 28-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Thursday.

As for Laguna Acoma, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.6 runs over those games.

For Laguna Acoma's part, Brianna Filmer was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs Filmer has posted since back in May of 2024. Jazmyne Carrillo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laguna Acoma, they will face off against Mesilla Valley Christian School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
