Baseball Recap: Redding Christian Has No Trouble Against Burney

Redding Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Burney on Tuesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bradie Ogden made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Redding Christian's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Ogden was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Zack Wakeman and Garrett Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Wakeman went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Webb went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Webb has become a key player for Redding Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Goodman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Redding Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burney struck out eight times.

Redding Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Burney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Redding Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burney, they will head out on the road to square off against Los Molinos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
