Recap: Hillcrest Panthers vs. Jefferson Patriots
The Hillcrest Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson 78-48 on the road. With Hillcrest ahead 44-20 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Hillcrest was led to victory by Kurt Thomas and Creed Vance. Thomas scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Vance scored 23 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vance has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jed-ethan Nansha, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Hillcrest's lineup was just a bit different on Tuesday as Jacoby Ogbonna got a bit more time on the court (20 vs. his season average of 9.35). Ogbonna made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points along with seven rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Jefferson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.
Hillcrest will head out on the road to square off against South Oak Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Oak Cliff is coming into the matchup with nine straight wins at home, meaning Hillcrest will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Jefferson will take on Molina at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
