Suwannee has no trouble against Gadsden County

Recap: Suwannee Bulldogs vs. Gadsden County Jaguars

The Suwannee Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Gadsden County Jaguars, and things went their way on Thursday too. Suwannee blew past Gadsden County 55-31. Given Suwannee's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Gadsden County is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shadavia Jones was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Suwannee's points. Another player making a difference was Janiah Mitchell, who scored 10 points.

Gadsden County's loss came despite strong showings from Eliana Key and Jahyria Dillard. Key scored 3 points along with 8 rebounds, while Dillard scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 8 steals. Dillard scored a full 25.8% of Gadsden County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Suwannee and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Gadsden County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suwannee will face off against Hamilton County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gadsden County, they will head out on the road to face off against Taylor County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
