Basketball Recap: RJ Palmer Jr.'s Big Game Can't Quite Lead Queen City Prep over Lake Norman Christian

On Thursday, the Queen City Prep Kings were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 73-67 to the Lake Norman Christian Lions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Kings still had to take the loss.

Several Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was RJ Palmer Jr., who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten assists. That was a full 37.3% of Queen City Prep's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davidrock Nchinda, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Palmer Jr. wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Queen City Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lake Norman Christian had a senior duo take command as Kobe Broome dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards and DJ Todd went 9 of 22 on his way to 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. With that strong performance, Todd is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Dwan McAllister, who put up six points and seven boards.

Queen City Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Lake Norman Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Queen City Prep has already played their next game, a 68-65 defeat against Asheville School (Independent) on the 14th. Lake Norman Christian has also already played their next contest (against Kingdom Leadership Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
