League recap: Alamogordo's Cole delivers best pitching performance from past week

5A District 3 league recap: 4/3/13

5A District 3's top pitcher this week was Alamogordo's Ragan Cole. Over the past week, he had one win and four Ks.

Las Cruces made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fifth to second place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Gadsden fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 1-2 in the past week. Onate (11-3, 1-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The Tigers' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 21 hits and 24 walks, both of which led the league.

There were three hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Caleb Agnew, who hit .538 this week (7-for-13).



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Cole, who turned in four Ks for Alamogordo. He's second in the league with ten total strikeouts.
