Petal had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Pearl Pirates with a sharp 17-2 victory. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 5-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jayden Madison made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kaleb Dillon looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Jaylen Lee was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nathan Garner, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Petal's record now sits at 17-5. As for Pearl, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Petal will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pearl: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
