Basketball Recap: Cedar Grove's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cedar Grove couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 39-38 to the Sandy Creek Patriots. The matchup marked the Saints' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Cedar Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emanuel Green, who posted 13 points. That was a full 34.2% of Cedar Grove's points, marking the fourth time in a row Green has earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javonte Floyd, who scored nine points.

With the defeat, Cedar Grove broke their 20-game winning streak and moved their record to 28-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Sandy Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 22 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season.
