Football Recap: South Lake Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South Lake can now relate to. They were beaten by the Lake Minneola Hawks 42-0 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Hawks are ranked 141st).

Kumari Wright had another great game (as she tends to do), rushing for 85 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 105 yards and a pair of TDs for Lake Minneola. That's the most rushing touchdowns Wright has posted over her last six matches. Austyn Krepcho got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

South Lake is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. As for Lake Minneola, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.

South Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Minneola, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-6 win against Buchholz on the 15th.
