Riverside's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Fleming Island Golden Eagles. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Generals considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Tae?Shaun Gelsey went supernova for Riverside, picking up 163 receiving yards and five touchdowns. With that strong performance, Gelsey is now averaging an impressive 113.5 receiving yards per game. Glenn Foreman Iii was another key player, throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Riverside was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 417 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fleming Island only gained 294.

Fleming Island's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trace Burney, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That's the most total yards Burney has posted since back in September of 2023. Another player making a difference was Eric Gentry, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.

The win got Riverside back to even at 1-1. As for Fleming Island, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Riverside will host Orange Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fleming Island, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fleming Island is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
