Softball Recap: Hilbert Triumphs

Hilbert took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Mary Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves won by a run and slipped past the Zephyrs 11-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Aurora Sromek was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Schnurer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hilbert has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for St. Mary Catholic, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Hilbert has already played their next contest (against Oostburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for St. Mary Catholic, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against Reedsville on the 28th.
