Softball Recap: Valley Center Takes Down Francis Parker in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Valley Center rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Francis Parker Lancers by a score of 11-8. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Lancers back in March, they had to take a 4-0 loss.

Winter Molina made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maya Cueva was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Su'La Devers, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Valley Center hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matches.

Valley Center's record is now 10-19. As for Francis Parker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Valley Center will head out to square off against Sweetwater at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. Francis Parker does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
