Softball Recap: Apollo Ridge Gets the Win

Apollo Ridge won the last time they faced Northgate and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings came out on top against the Flames by a score of 9-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Jocelyn Snyder was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Ryan, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Olivia Saxion was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Apollo Ridge's record now sits at 10-2. As for Northgate, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Apollo Ridge will welcome Brentwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northgate, they are taking a road trip to challenge Springdale at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Dynamos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Flames will no doubt try to take advantage of.
