Preview: Bishop Manogue Miners vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs
Bishop Manogue and Damonte Ranch are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Bishop Manogue Miners will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Manogue has six straight victories, Damonte Ranch has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Bishop Manogue on the road against Reno as the squad secured a 37-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Bishop Manogue, who have now won six matches by 25 points or more so far this season.
Cody Fleischmann continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 237 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Fleischmann is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Dom Marconato was another key contributor, picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch had to suffer through a rough 34-7 loss at the hands of Reed. Damonte Ranch was down 34-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Damonte Ranch had strong showings from Damien Smith, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and Marian Mariscal, who gained 100 total yards.
Bishop Manogue's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating across those contests too: they took their wins by an average of 38 points. As for Damonte Ranch, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Bishop Manogue has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Damonte Ranch struggles in that department as they've been even better at 214.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Bishop Manogue took their win against Damonte Ranch in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 41-21. Will Bishop Manogue repeat their success, or does Damonte Ranch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
