Basketball Game Preview: Galesburg Silver Streaks vs. Rochester Rockets

The Galesburg Silver Streaks and the Rochester Rockets will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Saturday, Galesburg ended up a good deal behind Davenport Central and lost 74-56. While losing is never fun, the Silver Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 341st in Illinois, while the Blue Devils are ranked 92nd in Iowa).

Meanwhile, Rochester hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Rochester came out on top against Lincoln by a score of 47-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Galesburg has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Rochester, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Galesburg came up short against Rochester in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 66-56. Can Galesburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
