Baseball Recap: Rogue River Gets the Win

The matchup between Rogue River and St. Mary on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Chieftains came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 15-10. The Chieftains haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kaiden Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Richardson was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, K. Kewley and Dustin Morton did most of the damage at the plate: Kewley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI, while Morton got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Kewley has become a key player for Rogue River: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise. M. Scott also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Rogue River's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for St. Mary's, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
