Clovis North had lost four straight headed into Friday's contest, but J R Cruz didn't let it get to five. The Broncos came out on top against the Clovis East Timberwolves by a score of 27-20 on Friday thanks in part to Cruz, who rushed for 243 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Clovis North is 6-1 when Cruz posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise.

Clovis North's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for Clovis East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Clovis North will face off against rival Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Cruz and Gannon Sever. Meanwhile, Clovis East is set to challenge their familiar foe Central East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jamie Spurgeon and Jelani Dippel.
