Baseball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

If Marshall was feeling good fresh off their 10-4 takedown of Odessa on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Owls fell 13-8 to the Lafayette County Huskers on Friday. The Owls have struggled against the Huskers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Kirchhoff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Creighton Byrd also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Lafayette County, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Looking ahead, Marshall will take on Mexico at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Lafayette County, they will host Lone Jack at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
