MaxPreps Sac-Joaquin Section Top 25 high school football rankings

It comes down to the regular-season finale to decide the outright, winner-take-all championships in the Sierra Foothill League, the Monticello Empire League and the Capital Athletic League.

No. 2 Del Oro (Loomis) visits No. 5 Rocklin for SFL honors. The CAL features bubble-ranked teams in Antelope and Whitney (Rocklin).

1. (Last week 1) Folsom (9-0)
Jake Browning passed for 337 yards and six touchdowns and the defense pitched its second Delta River League shutout in blanking Ponderosa (Shingle Springs) 52-0. Mike McCuaig returned his team's opening kickoff for a touchdown and he had an interception. A second successive 10-0 season looms with another steady effort.

2. (3) Del Oro (Loomis) (7-2)
The Golden Eagles clinched at least a share of the Sierra Foothill League championship with a 72-21 rout of Nevada Union (Grass Valley) in setting a school record for points scored. Michael Moore tossed three touchdowns and Dylan Kainrath ran for three to set up a showdown for the SFL title with rival Rocklin. The losses were to out-of-area powers in NorCal No. 1 De La Salle and SoCal power Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks).

3. (4) Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (8-1)
The Trojans beat previous No. 2 Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 28-14 in Delta River League action as Ian Book passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Stephen Douglas and Drew Lackowski each ran for a score in keeping their Delta River League title hopes alive. The loss was to No. 1 Folsom. The wins include ranked Pleasant Grove, Grant, Rocklin, Vacaville and Franklin (Elk Grove).

4. (2) Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) (8-1)
The Eagles fell to No. 3 Oak Ridge 28-14 in a game that was tied 7-7 at the half. Deaundre Terrell tossed a touchdown and Ian Broom ran for one. Pleasant Grove has wins over No. 5 Rocklin, No. 9 Burbank and No. 15 Jesuit.

5. (6) Rocklin (7-2)
The Thunder blanked Roseville 17-0 in the fourth quarter to win 31-14 in a Sierra Foothill League game. Evyn Holtz rushed 30 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns to set up a winner-take-all SFL title showdown with rival and No. 2 Del Oro. The losses were to No. 3 Oak Ridge and No. 4 Pleasant Grove.

6. (7) Elk Grove (8-1)
Wadus Parker rushed for 217 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns, and Tommy Arnold scored in the Thundering Herd's 35-19 win over Monterey Trail (Elk Grove). Noah Letuligasenoa Ta'amu had a sack and a fumble return for a score. Elk Grove aims to tie for the Delta Valley Conference title, having beaten Grant and lost to Franklin (Elk Grove).

7. (8) Grant (Sacramento) (6-3)
The Pacers beat Davis 38-0 to remain in a first-place tie in the Delta Valley Conference with Elk Grove and Franklin (Elk Grove). Deandre Whittington-Grays rushed for 139 yards and two scores, Donovan Brown tossed a touchdown pass and Mosese Moala had 13 tackles. The losses, all close, were to No. 2 Del Oro, No. 3 Oak Ridge and No. 6 Elk Grove.

8. (9) Granite Bay (6-3)
The Grizzlies beat Woodcreek (Roseville) 35-7 as Josh Neal tossed four touchdown passes, three to Brian Graber, in Sierra Foothill League play. It's been quite a season for a team rocked by injuries. The losses were to No. 1 Folsom, No. 2 Del Oro and No. 5 Rocklin. Granite Bay is the two-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section D-I champion.

9. (10) Burbank (Sacramento) (6-2)
Ernest Jenkins tossed three touchdown passes, two to Calvin Green, in a 63-0 win over Valley (Sacramento) to lock up another Metropolitan Conference title. The losses were to No. 4 Pleasant Grove and No. 7 Grant.

10. (15) Stagg (Stockton) (8-1)
The Delta Kings beat previous No. 5 St. Mary's (Stockton) 40-32 to snap the Rams' 33-game, seven-year Tri-City Athletic League winning streak. Daniel Ruffin sealed it with a late interception. Wayne Brooks rushed for 221 yards for Stagg, which beat St. Mary's for the first time since 1999.

11. (5) St. Mary's (Stockton) (6-3)
The Rams fell to No. 10 Stagg 40-32 in Tri-City Athletic League play, snapping their 33-game, six-year league winning streak. St. Mary's trailed 40-18 at one point. The other losses were to NorCal No. 1 De La Salle and Sac-Joaquin Section No. 2 Del Oro.

12. (11) Central Catholic (Modesto) (8-1)
The Raiders rolled Ceres 56-12 in warming up for the Division IV playoffs, of which they are the defending champion. Matt Ringer rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns. The loss was to previous Sac-Joaquin Section No. 5 St. Mary's (Stockton).

13. (12) Rio Linda (8-1)
The Knights rolled Oakmont (Roseville) 41-3 as Marcel Brown rushed just eight times for 254 yards and five touchdowns. The loss was in an opener on a blocked field goal returned for a score to Roseville. Rio Linda has clinched the Capital Valley Conference championship.

14. (13) Manteca (8-1)
The Buffaloes rolled Sierra (Manteca) 35-14 to lock up the Valley Oak League title. Alex Laurel rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns. The loss was to 7-1 Wilcox (Santa Clara).

15. (23) Jesuit (Carmichael) (7-2)
The Marauders oultasted Sheldon (Sacramento) 69-40 in Delta River League play to lock up a D-I playoff spot. QB Jason Elenberger rushed for 268 yards and five touchdowns, and he hit Matthew Coyle for a 66-yard touchdown pass. The losses were to No. 1 Folsom and No. 4 Pleasant Grove.

16. (14) Inderkum (Sacramento) (7-2)
The Tigers rolled Pioneer (Woodland) 59-0 to lock up the program's sixth Tri-County League title in seven years. C. J. Spencer tossed two touchdown passes, and Marcus Gilbert and Kyree Ayo each scored twice. The losses were to No. 4 Pleasant Grove and No. 5 Rocklin.

17. (18) Yuba City (8-1)
The Honkers beat Natomas (Sacramento) 53-0 as Isaac Lessard had a 70-yard touchdown strike and Omar Herrera scored twice on the ground. The loss was to No. 16 Inderkum.

18. (17) American Canyon (8-1)
The Wolves rolled Bethel (Vallejo) 35-7 as Jomon Dotson rushed for 86 yards and Derrick Hughes ran for 57 and two scores to secure at least a share of the Solano County Athletic Conference. The loss was to No. 10 Stagg (Stockton).

19. (20) Vacaville (6-3)
The Bulldogs secured at least a share of another Monticello Empire League title, beating Rodriguez (Fairfield) 42-6. Chad Hekking tossed two touchdowns and Demetrius Nunez rushed for two scores to set up a winner-take-all MEL title showdown with rival Wood (Vacaville). The losses include Oak Ridge and Granite Bay.

20. (21) Merced (7-2)
The Bears beat Atwater 24-14 to clinch a share of the Central California Conference title as Tyrone Williams passed for 175 yards and a score and Kris Turner-Jackson ran for 106 and a score. The losses were to Central Section powers Clovis North (Fresno) and Edison (Fresno).

21. (22) Tokay (Lodi) (7-2)
The Tigers rolled McNair (Stockton) 58-7 as Kelse DePauli-Wiltse tossed two touchdowns and Grayson Dillon ran for two scores. The losses were to No. 10 Stagg (Stockton) and previous No. 5 St. Mary's (Stockton).

22. (24) Franklin (Elk Grove) (6-3)
The Wildcats inched closer to tying for a share of the Delta Valley Conference championship with a 38-0 win over Laguna Creek (Elk Grove). Patrick Walker, Lamar Jackson and Kyron O'Berry each ran for touchdowns, and Joey Banks and Robert Sanders combined for 18 tackles. The losses were to No. 7 Grant and No. 13 Jesuit with a win over then No. 2 Elk Grove.

23. (25) Tracy (8-1)
The Bulldogs rolled Chavez (Stockton) 56-14 to clinch at least a share of the San Joaquin Athletic Association title. Damon Stroup rushed for 121 yards and three scores and Nate Jones went for 144 and two. The loss was to No. 23 Franklin (Elk Grove).

24. (25) Hilmar (9-0)
The Yellowjackets beat traditional small-school power Escalon 28-14 to lock up the Trans Valley League title. Joseph Bello, Trent Orosco and Jonathan O'Brien each ran for a score.

25.  (NR) Patterson 9-0
The Tigers of the Western Athletic Conference roll into a Week 10 showdown against No. 12 Central Catholic with a lot to compete for. The team is coming off successive 7-4 seasons and went 11-2 in 2010.
