Football Recap: Spring Mountain Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last five games, Spring Mountain finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were dealt a 54-0 defeat at the hands of the Tonopah Muckers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since October 18, 2024.

Dustin Otteson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tonopah, rushing for 311 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 42 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Otteson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 116 every time he's taken the field this season. Adelaido Salgado was another key player, gaining 66 total yards and a touchdown.

Spring Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Tonopah, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Spring Mountain will be playing at home against Pahranagat Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Tonopah, they will head out to take on Sandy Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Muckers 9.7, the Sidewinders 6.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
