Volleyball Recap: Carrizo Springs Wildcats vs. Refugio Bobcats

It was a proper cat-fight when Carrizo Springs duked it out with Refugio on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 2-0 to the Bobcats. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Carrizo Springs ultimately came up short, they really made Refugio work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-18.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Refugio to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caylee Collins, who had six digs and six aces. That's the most aces Collins has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Zae-Lynne Lewis, who had 12 digs, five kills, and two aces.

Carrizo Springs dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Refugio, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.

Coming up, Carrizo Springs will venture away from home to take on Jones at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Refugio, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against King on the 21st.
