Softball Recap: Atlantic Shores Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Atlantic Shores Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Peninsula Catholic Knights 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Alyssa Marraccini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tatum Wilson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Edenfield, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Atlantic Shores Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peninsula Catholic only posted a batting average of .333.

Peninsula Catholic moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Atlantic Shores Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-5 loss against Tallwood on the 27th. As for Peninsula Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Bethel on the 24th.
