Basketball Game Preview: Oak Harbor Wildcats vs. Lakewood Cougars + How To Watch

The Oak Harbor Wildcats will face off against the Lakewood Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Oak Harbor duked it out with Lynden on Tuesday. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Lions and fell 78-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Oak Harbor got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Tory Herron-Ballard and Mikaia Lewis, who each put up three points. Nahla Wilson held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lakewood gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Monday. They strolled past Interlake with points to spare, taking the game 56-41. The Cougars pushed the score to 51-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Saints cut but never quite recovered from.

Lakewood's win came from a few key players Oak Harbor will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Leiana Riveira, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in January. Karly Stewart was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Oak Harbor now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Oak Harbor lost to Lakewood at home by a decisive 55-40 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Riveira, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
