Basketball Recap: Antonique Hines' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Craigmont over Millington Central

Craigmont lost against Millington Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Craigmont Chiefs took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millington Central Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Trojans are ranked 138th).

Craigmont's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonique Hines, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Marisha Herron, who scored nine points.

Millington Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alissa Carpenter, who earned seven points and three steals. Carpenter has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Arionna Banks, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and six rebounds.

Craigmont has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Millington Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Craigmont will square off against Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Millington Central, they will challenge Brighton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
