Softball Recap: Cathedral Catholic Beats Patrick Henry for Their Third Straight Win

Cathedral Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 16-10 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Patrick Henry Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Dons: when they faced off against the Patriots back in April, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Mimi Botticelli looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ellie Davis and Riley Marlin did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Marlin went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Marlin has posted since back in March. Anna Janis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cathedral Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patrick Henry only posted a batting average of .231.

As for Patrick Henry, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this match were averaging 4.04 runs allowed.

On Patrick Henry's side, they got a good showing from Ava Cornell, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Adeline McDonald made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
