Basketball Recap: Valley Center Takes a Loss

Valley Center lost against Fallbrook back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Valley Center Jaguars took a hard 82-63 fall against the Fallbrook Warriors. While the Jaguars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 24-20 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Center lost, don't look at Lincoln Zetmeir. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 21 en route to 27 points. That was a full 42.9% of Valley Center's points, marking the 19th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Dustin Hotchkiss was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Valley Center was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Elliott Watkins was his usual excellent self, going 14 of 19 on his way to 36 points along with five boards and three steals for Fallbrook. Watkins continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Valley Center's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Fallbrook, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Center will welcome San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Center is facing San Pasqual at the right time seeing as San Pasqual is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Fallbrook, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rancho Bernardo at 7:00 p.m. Rancho Bernardo will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Fallbrook surely won't give up without a fight.
