Football Recap: Bleckley County Royals vs. Dodge County Indians
Bleckley County easily dispatched Rutland last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Royals fell just short of the Dodge County Indians by a score of 31-29 on Friday. The Royals were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
Bleckley County's loss came despite strong showings from Brody Fleming and Octavius Tate. Fleming threw for 287 yards and two TDs, while Tate picked up 116 receiving yards and one score. A healthy portion of Fleming's aerial production (80 yards to be exact) also went to Connor Cairney.
Dodge County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jauriel Bray out in front who picked up 155 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 155 receiving yards gave Bray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kain Mincey, who threw for 257 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes.
Bleckley County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Coming up, Bleckley County will square off against East Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dodge County, they will take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
