Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Ironwood Eagles + Official Tickets

The Fossil Ridge SaberCats are taking a road trip to take on the Ironwood Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fossil Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Ironwood likes a good challenge.

Fossil Ridge saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 73-65 to ThunderRidge. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the SaberCats still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Fossil Ridge got top-tier performance from Vander Eberhard, who shot 77% from the field on his way to 27 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Eberhard is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaimeson Peterson, who posted seven points along with 12 rebounds and six assists.

Meanwhile, Ironwood was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 77-76 to Chaparral.

Ironwood has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Fossil Ridge couldn't quite get it done against Ironwood when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 60-50. Can the SaberCats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
