Softball Recap: Pickens' Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Pickens came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Daniel Lions as they made off with a 9-3 victory. This was a revenge game for the Blue Flame: when they faced off against the Lions on April 1st, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Sophie Duzan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Kaylee Bolding was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ava Belle Lawton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Pickens pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Daniel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Pickens will take on rival Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Daniel is set to face off against their familiar foe Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
