Softball Game Preview: Bigelow Panthers vs. Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs

The Bigelow Panthers will face off against the Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bigelow's offense. They fell just short of Mt. Vernon-Enola by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Warhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Bigelow saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hana Staples, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Central Arkansas Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Side, sneaking past 8-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Kayla Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Myers was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Addie Browning was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Delaney Huffman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Central Arkansas Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Central Arkansas Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Bigelow, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
