Baseball Recap: Wesley Chapel Comes Up Short

Wesley Chapel blew Cypress Creek out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Cypress Creek got their revenge. The Wildcats fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Wesley Chapel got a good showing from Chase Flemming, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Flemming has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Dylan Pabon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wesley Chapel has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wesley Chapel is set to square off against their familiar foe River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3, the Royal Knights 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cypress Creek will take on rival Zephyrhills at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
