Basketball Game Preview: Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears vs. Silsbee Tigers

Little Cypress-Mauriceville hasn't had much luck against Silsbee recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears will challenge the Silsbee Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Lumberton 44-27.

Meanwhile, Silsbee entered their tilt with Bridge City on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 55-51 win over the Cardinals.

Silsbee found their leader in sophomore Payton Jones, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 25 points and three steals. The contest was Jones' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Boulwen, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Silsbee's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville took a serious blow against Silsbee in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 78-40. Thankfully for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Jared Harris (who went 11 of 17 on his way to 24 points along with five assists and five boards) won't be suiting up this time.
