Basketball Recap: Provo Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Provo and Timpanogos squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Provo had to settle for second. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timpanogos Timberwolves. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Timberwolves earlier this season, when they won 67-59.

When it comes to explaining why Provo lost, don't look at Makai Allen. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-19 en route to 30 points and five boards. The game was Allen's seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Gehrig Orchard was another key player, going 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points.

Timpanogos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxen Mccuistion out in front who went 8-for-17 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. Mccuistion has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Forest Corner - Bettwieser, who went 6-for-7 en route to 14 points.

Provo's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Timpanogos, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-8.

Provo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Timpanogos, they will square off against Green Canyon at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday. Green Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Timpanogos likes a good challenge.
