Football Game Preview: Marion Bulldogs vs. Luling Eagles

Marion is 7-1 against Luling since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Luling took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Marion, who comes in off a win.

Marion is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 50-20 win over Poteet. With the Bulldogs ahead 36-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Marion had a senior duo take command as Kade Pape threw for 394 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt and Tanner Otis gained 147 total yards and a touchdown. Thanks to that big game, Pape is now up to 16 passing touchdowns on the season.

Meanwhile, Luling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 48-7 loss at the hands of Shiner. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while the Comanches are ranked 248th).

Luling's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Marion, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Marion against Luling in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 43-7 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
