Basketball Recap: Addison Porter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Herriman over Layton

Herriman was the 55-40 winner over Layton when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers on Tuesday. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Herriman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addison Porter, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Stella Smith, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Hadley Collier went supernova For Layton., almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Collier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Vowles, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 10 points and six boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Herriman fell to 4-1. As for Layton, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Herriman has already played their next game, a 62-43 defeat against Murray on the 5th. As for Layton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-39 loss against Bingham on the 4th.
