Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Lions vs. Pilgrim Patriots

The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to take on the Pilgrim Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln will be strutting in after a win while Pilgrim will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, it was close, but Lincoln sidestepped East Providence for a 2-1 victory.

Lincoln got a great performance from Jon-Luca Feole as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Feole a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lincoln saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Cabral, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Connor Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Pilgrim faced Coventry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Patriots fell 9-5 to the Oakers. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Jack Cirelli made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Henry Kearns was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Pilgrim, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Lincoln skirted past Pilgrim 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
