The Panthers had just enough and edged out Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Summit Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cincinnati Country Day by a score of 8-3 on Thursday.
Jack Phillabaum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grayson Houchin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Cole Reinhard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Summit Country Day lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Elder's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Summit Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Elder came out on top in a nail-biter against Summit Country Day in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Silver Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
