Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hart

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Hart ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Valencia Vikings 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three matches in a row.

Tristan Purfoy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over eight innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hart is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Hart's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Chathle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Chathle's first of the season. Michael Hogen was another, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Hart now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Valencia, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Hart will head out on the road to face off against Maranatha at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Maranatha has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Valencia, they will challenge Agoura at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
