Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Walnut

Walnut proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 13) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Katella Knights, sneaking past 7-5. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Allisyn Reyes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Peyton Schilz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Walnut, bringing their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Katella, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Walnut has already played their next matchup, a 9-7 defeat against Segerstrom on the 14th. As for Katella, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-7 loss against Chaparral on the 14th.
