DuVal picks up fifth straight win on the road

Recap: DuVal Tigers vs. Laurel Spartans

The DuVal Tigers won against the Laurel Spartans last Tuesday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. DuVal walked away with a 62-51 victory over Laurel. The victory was nothing new for DuVal as they're now sitting on three straight.

Amani Lett was on fire: he scored 20 points along with eight assists and five steals. Daniel Nwaete was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jermaine Taylor, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Taylor pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gilbert Osafo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Laurel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

DuVal pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DuVal will take on Wise at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Wise's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches. As for Laurel, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome High Point at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th.
