Baseball Recap: Edisto Has No Trouble Against North

Edisto never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the North Eagles 12-0. Considering the Cougars have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Max Dempsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Edisto's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Edisto got a big performance out of Billy Hardy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Hardy has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Connor Baldwin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Edisto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .176.

Edisto now has a winning record of 11-10. As for North, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Edisto didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on the 29th. As for North, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-7 defeat against Calhoun County on the 28th.
