Volleyball Recap: Boerne-Champion Chargers vs. New Braunfels Unicorns
Boerne-Champion lost against New Braunfels back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chargers came up short against the Unicorns, falling 3-0. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Boerne-Champion was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.
Taylor Fenton paced Boerne-Champion's offense, picking up seven kills. Fenton got some help from Brady Cooksey and her 19 assists. Hannah Perez controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
New Braunfels got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordynn Ash out in front who had 22 digs and two aces. Those 22 digs gave Ash a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Jeffers, who had 15 digs and four assists.
Boerne-Champion's defeat dropped their record down to 25-7. As for New Braunfels, the win was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 40-5.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Boerne-Champion will challenge rival Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, New Braunfels is set to take on their familiar foe Alamo Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
