Basketball Recap: First Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Logan Steele and Logan James

First Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 54-45 to the Appling Christian Academy Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-32 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, First Academy had strong showings from Logan James, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Logan Steele, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, First Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 48 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Appling Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Drake, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Xzayvier Anderson was another key player, going 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Appling Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

First Academy will take on St. Teresa's Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Appling Christian Academy, they will face off against Peoples Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
