Baseball Game Preview: Egg Harbor Township Eagles vs. Mainland Regional Mustangs

For the second straight game, Egg Harbor Township will face off against Mainland Regional. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Mustangs at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Egg Harbor Township has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Egg Harbor Township took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Mainland Regional, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mustangs 7-6.

Jacob Cagna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Cagna was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Conroy, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Austin Fisher also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Egg Harbor Township's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Mainland Regional, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season.
