Recap: Pensacola Tigers vs. Gulf Breeze Dolphins
The Pensacola Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gulf Breeze. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pensacola of the 71-47 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Loss or not, Pensacola got some senior leadership from Braylen Steele and Zac Clarke. Steele scored 14 points along with four steals, while Clarke. scored 13 points.
Hutson Rowe was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds for Gulf Breeze. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rowe has scored at least a third of Gulf Breeze's points. Roman Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals and three blocks.
Pensacola's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Gulf Breeze, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pensacola won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Escambia at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Escambia is on a four-game streak of home losses, Pensacola a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Gulf Breeze won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pensacola Catholic at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Pensacola Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
